ARMY CHIEF's IMPORTANT VISIT TO BHUTAN

Army Chief, General Manoj Pande; on Friday began a 2 day visit to Bhutan, days after new satellite images emerged indicating construction of a Chinese village east of Doklam, on Bhutanese side which is considered to be the strategic location for India.

General Pande is scheduled to meet King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and Jigme Singye Wangchuk. He will also be holding talks with his counterpart in the Royal Bhutanese Army.

General Pande will begin his visit by paying homage at the National Memorial at Thimphu.

This visit will further enhance the unique bi-lateral relationship, he will also be having an meeting with his counterpart to exchange views on taking forward the strong cultural and professional bonds between both the armies.

After the satellite images came out, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said India keeps a constant watch on all the development on National Security and takes necessary measures to safe-guard its interests.

73 DAYS LONG DOKLAM STAND-OFF

The PLA and Indian troops were head to head at Doklam after China tried to extend a road in the area that Bhutan claimed belonged to it.
Last year, Bhutan and China signed an agreement on a "three step roadmap" to expedite negotiations to resolve their boundary dispute.
The Doklam junction is considered important from the point of view of India's National Security Interests. The India-China stand off in Doklam Plateau triggered fears of a dirty war between the two nuclear capable countries.
Bhutan claimed the area belonged to it and India backed the Bhutanese claims, which left China furious.

The India-China stand-off came to an end after a series of 27 Commander level talks between both the countries.

But the question remains the same, ' would China cease it's expansionist ideology'?
